Early screenprints

These screenprints are from 1981-1985 and represent the urban environment around Kingston-upon-Hull. Sometimes printed onto handmade or collaged paper surfaces, they used oil based inks often mixed with chalk. This was to make the ink dry out quickly to deliberately block the screen and create unexpected rough matt textures.
